3. What is Permanent Makeup?
Permanent Makeup is permanent powdered brows technique for clients who likes fuller result(Microshading-Ombré), hair strokes (Microblading) but still very soft. Sterilized, disposable needles and supplies are used during the processIt’s a technique which looks like daily makeup done with eyebrow pencil or eyebrow shadow. The tails of the brow are darker and fade into a light beginning to the brow, giving a perfect Ombre makeup affect and microblading is hair like strokes that looks like your eyebrows but fuller and exotic The result will be waterproof, smudge-proof and completely natural that can last 1-3 years.
It is a two step process, initial appointment and a touch up appointment 6-12 weeks after. Within a week of your first treatment the color will fade as much as 30% or more lighter in shade and will healed to more of a natural makeup look. To achieve desire look, a touch up is recommended. * Please book your 6-12 weeks touch up appointment after you booked for your initial appointment. My appointments get booked fast and if you wait to book, I may not have any availability, and you will have to pay a higher fee after the 12 week window. *
4. Does it hurt?
Everyone has a different level of sensitivity so topical anesthetics can be applied during the treatment to alleviate any sensation or discomfort.
5. How often do I need a touch up?
In order to keep your eyebrow tattoo results looking fresh, a monthly and yearly touch up is recommended.
6. Why do I need a touch up if this is semi-permanent?
Because color is implanted in the facial area there tends to be more fluid circulation than other parts of the body. Your face sees the most wear of any piece of you—exposure to the sun, food, facial products—the list goes on and on. All of these things cause permanent color to fade, this is why you need a touch up.
7. How long does it take?
The procedure takes roughly about 3 hours, sometimes more sometimes less. Please allow a solid 4-hour window for your appointment. I likely won’t need that much time, but this isn’t something I want to rush.
8. What’s the process like?
Consultation is done the same day of your appointment. I will discuss the aftercare with you and have you sign the consent & medical history form.
After taking your before photo, I will draw the brow design in pencil so you get an idea of shape and form. (Please note that nobody’s face is totally symmetrical and you need to be realistic with your expectations. There is no point in trying to make the eyebrows identical or match a photo of another person’s eyebrows if your face shape looks nothing like theirs.). Once we have agreed on a final shape (ultimately it is your decision. – but I will always voice my opinion on what I think suits you aesthetically).
9. How do I prepare for my appointment?
Pre & post care instructions are a very important aspect of the long term success, effectiveness, health, and overall satisfaction with your new eyebrow tattoos. Below is your pre-care instructions. You will receive another copy of pre-care and post care instructions, and information about the healing process via email after you book your appointment. It is your responsibility to follow those instructions in order to achieve the best possible results from your permanent makeup procedure.*Your appointment will be rescheduled, and you will lose your deposit for failure to follow the pre-appointment preparation protocol.
10. What are the pre-care instructions?
- Do not consume any alcohol beverages, pain medication, vitamins, or caffeine (coffee, tea, energy drinks, etc.) 48 hours prior to your appointment. - consult with your doctor before stopping any medications. Consuming alcohol or caffeine actsas blood-thinner. It will cause the skin to irritate and bleeding will reduce the pigment absorption as blood will push out the colors - resulting in poor color retention.
- Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E, Advil/Ibuprofen or blood thinner medication 48 hours before procedure. (Please consult with your doctor before stopping any medication).
- You should skip moisturizing or use any products 24 hours prior
- No tinting for 3 weeks prior.
- Do not wax, shave or pluck your brows. Every attempt is made to retain all natural hair and integrate it into the design of the permanent eyebrows. In some cases, where shaping of the natural brow is required, a few hairs here and there may need to be removed to create a clean and aesthetically pleasing result. .
- Avoid tanning 1 week prior to your appointment.
- Discontinue Glycolics, Chemical Peels, Retin-A and any eyebrow growth serums on or near your brows 2 weeks prior to and after your appointment to avoid them from fading fast.
- If you use Accutane, you have to wait one year.
- If you use Botox or fillers, it should be performed 2 months prior to and 2 months after your appointment.
11. I already have permanent makeup and want to change the shape. Can you help?
NOT ALL PREVIOUS WORK DONE BY ANOTHER ARTIST CAN BE FIXED OR COVERED. Coverups & Corrections done on previous work can be very complicated, time consuming, and 100% result cannot be guaranteed. It can be possible if your old tattoo is 80% or lighter, but it might take a few sessions to correct. It can be more tricky to correct depending on how bad it is.
An average eyebrows tattoo correction usually require three or more sessions, and much more time, and work than making new permanent eyebrows on virgin brows. Most permanent makeup corrections require client's patience and dedication. Due to the amount time and work needed to repair bad permanent makeup tattoo the cost of repair is not negotiable. The cost and number of sessions can not be predetermined.
I require that anyone who has had their brows tattooed previously by another artist to send me pictures (one front-facing and a left and right side profile) via email at info@gboricolourstudio.com before booking an appointment for Coverup & Correction.
If you book an appointment without disclosing previous cosmetic tattoo work, your deposit will be forfeited and your appointment cancelled.
12. Will eyebrow tattooing harm any existing eyebrow hair?
No, it will not harm any existing eyebrow hairs, as hair growth is mainly affected by hormones, health, and to a lesser extent, nutrition. However in some clients, getting an eyebrow tattoo can possibly stimulate hair to grow in the area that the tattoo is done. When this happens it's a real added bonus!
13. I have heard some clients just do not retain pigment even after a few visits. Could this happen?
Yes, it does happen and yes it's true! A third appointment is often set up so the client has the opportunity to return and I get the chance to review the work and sort out any (if any) tweaks that might need to be done. Often times the clients cancel this apt as all is usually well, however there are some clients skin may react to the trauma of the tattooing, and the skin may try to push out the foreign body of pigment by producing an extreme scab, so they eventually fall off taking all the pigment with it. There is a condition called Pigment Allergy (PPD Allergy, a condition known by dermatologists) or Auto Immune disease symptoms (the client may not even be aware of it). The skin would have over reacted and become super sensitive to the pigment and reject it at any cost.
14. Can you guarantee your work?
Results vary per individual. How the skin will react is different for everyone and many factors are to be taken into consideration. Post treatment aftercare, skin type, age, scarring, diet, stress levels, facial products, medication, old tattoo, tattoo removal, etc. all play a key role in how the pigment will hold, which is why it is important to know that more than one touch up may be required.
15. What if I don’t like it?
Although Ombré brows are considered to be semi-permanent, the procedure does allow flexibility for color or shape change to some extent. However, I will work closely with you to ensure that you are satisfied with the proposed technique. If you do not like the decision you made, the Touch Up can be cancelled and the pigmented area naturally fades away over time. If you aren’t 100% sure you would benefit from this procedure, please opt for a more temporary option
